Phalaenopsis violacea (indigo x sumatrana)
Finally got my camera back with all of the photos of this bloom forming and opening up. Thought I would share yet another really good species cross by Norman's. This is violacea var indigo x violacea var sumatrana.
Color on the bud was awesome, and so far the color hasn't faded on the bloom (been about 10 days now). Has a nifty washed color at the end of the petals that I think I like. Wish I had captured the color best on the opening shot that I got when it was partially opened. Even that is still not doing the color justice (it's darker red/purple than it appears). Anyway, enjoy.

Sure, here's the whole plants. It just finished it's newest leaf, and started 2 new spikes (near the lower crown) in the past month or so. Newest leaf is just more than 6" in length.

Hi there, I tried to grow Phall bellini couple of years ago but i was not successful and it is hard to look after them in centrally heated house. I would to grow as they are gorgeous. any tips you would suggest?

Well, I've really settled on good general care. I've pretty much focused on Phals for the last 6+ months, and I've decided as long as they are kept warm (though winter is starting to scare me...), dont stay damp too long, and get good light, they'll do ok for me. This meant buying some T5 lights for winter, repotting some, and some close monitoring of my grow area, but as this and other blooms show, it's worth it!
