I just bought one from Norman's but it isn't certain that mine will contain any color. It could be just white only, which is ok but I hope I get color. I am excited though because it is growing new buds on established spikes, of which it has many!

I might be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that color depends on temps during blooming in these orchids. Colder temps - more white, warmer temps - more red.
Am I wrong?

No you're not wrong, but not entirely right either... The one I got is a hybrid between an all white version and one with color, so half get color, half don't and there is no sure bet. So there is a chance that despite temp or time of bloom, it may never have color. It is supposed to have a great scent though...vanilla like.

Yes and no. If he has a true C1, the color will vary with Temp (and also light in some cases). However, if this was a seedling or a non-C1, there is a chance the color will be completely lost, leaving only white, or white with slight red striping or blotches.

Since it is about C1 too, could you please also explain to me what is the difference and relations between phal tetraspis, phal speciosa and C1. Who is variety of who?
I bought tetraspis C1 from Ten Shin Gardens, but saw similar flower labeled as speciosa on the web.
Very confused about the names.

Honestly, it is about the most vague topic around. I'm not a taxonomist, but from what I understand:
Phal speciosa is extint, but the current Phal sepciosa's being sold originated likely in Taiwan, and probably are a variant of Tetrapsis. The color being some kind of genetic mutation. However, I'm sure for every comment I just made there is an argument to be made on the other.
The Royal Horticulture Society does not recognize Phal speciosa, only Phal tetrapsis, so if the buck stopped there, all speciosa are tetrapsis.
The 'C1' is the best example of the red barring version of this argument. If you bought C1 from Ten Shin (a reliable grower) you likely have the red barring version.

Speciosa may or may not be extinct, depending on who you ask. Some of this debate is in a thread over at the Big Leaf Phal forums:

My C1 shows a little start of the spike above the oldest leaf node. Now I can't wait to see if mine will have red or not!
