It also appears to have several more flowers on the way, so I will keep you people posted as I see them pop out from under the bracts and start growing.

Ok, as I promised, here are the updated pics.

Here is a comparison of the opening flower to my violacea with my thumb in there. Taken about a week ago.


Both plants with my hand.


Second bud just cracking open.


Second bud a couple of days ago.



And from tonight, the first bud fully open.



The second bud, which has worse form and is smaller. I will use this as the pod parent for a cross with my Penang Girl.



And spike #5, which brings the total of spikes and sub-spikes up to 10! It looks like a root in the picture, but it is a spike.

It was a selfing. I think I am going to cut it off and sell the plant at my OS. The shape is very terrible, and after three blooms it hasn't improved much. I will never be able to use for breeding quality flowers. Now I just need to get a violacea with good shape!

I do find this to be a rather nifty species. Actually would be one I would consider having in my limited space.
