If you have the money, invest on the blooming size. You can enjoy the blooms soon. You may not know what happens in 2 to 3 years taking care of the seedlings...

Those prices do not sound outrageous. Also rememeber, they are imports which usually drives prices up a bit as well.

My records show I paid $35 US in 2009 for their Blue Chip X self seedling. It has actually grown very well for me and put up a small spike this summer that hasn't done anything yet.

Thanks for the culture tips rangiku. It would go on my shleves under lights, and it's fairly warm there. It doesn't drop below 70 during the day, at in the cooler months at night with the lights off it drops a few degrees, maybe 60-65F. But I can always keep it on a heat mat.
I'll consider getting the adult plant if the grower can give me the name of the cross. Otherwise paying nearly $100 is a lot for what is basically a Norton Noid.
I sent the grower an email this morning, and I'm just waiting for an answer now.

HP does not fool around. His crosses are well-planned, and the offspring are typically outstanding. If you're getting something from one of his flasks, it's likely to be worth every penny, and won't be mass-marketed either.

I have the very same trouble for weeks now! I've been watching that vendor's page for months and it's a quite new offer. I also want that plant but I can't make up my mind about it. As I already have one Norton seedling it seems a bit much for me but I can't forget that lovely dark colour it has on the pic!! Btw I think it's a good price for the plant. Pls let me know what was his answer!
However I think I'll go with another one (a really dark shaded violacea sumatra) as that will be better for futher crossings i guess....

Still no answer, but I don't expect any until tomorrow at least since it's the weekend. I went ahead and bid on one of the seedlings on Ebay since the auction ends in a few hours. Also bid on a Phal chibae!

Do not mean any offense but one must be very careful looking at these pics.
If you noticed, the flower was flashed and flashing without the right white balance setting or correct post editing can cause colour distortion.
Someone mentioned that Norton indigo is a slow grower and I cannot disagree with that.
It's my slowest growing seedling in my humble collection of phal.
