P. equestris 'Riverbend' AM-AOS
Here's the story, I got her in bloom with one spike at my first NCOS show/sale in 2004 from Seagrove Orchids. Was told she would put out much more when she matured ! That spike finished and by August 2005 the first bloom on a new spike appeared. She has been in bloom EVER SINCE ! Before that spike was done 2 more started up ! The second 2 were in bloom before the first 1 finished ! Getting the idea ?!! I won so many NCOS ribbons that my members were tired of seeing her !! So, I backed off and don't feel the need to bring her in quite as often !
Let's go backwards here. Right now, the newest 2 spikes have 3 branches on one and 4 on the other ! The ones before that are still active with a keiki on the end of each (I have 5 keikis on her) and they had each split in 2 branches ! So, counting the branches, right now there are 11 spikes active !!!
Whether or not you guessed, this is my #2 favorite orchid !!!!! No fragrance but who needs it, not her ??!!

Wow that's pretty amazing. My equestris has bloomed on 2 spikes before, while also growing 2 Keikis. It also does not like to be out of bloom. Seems like if I cut spikes off within a week I see a new one emerging. They are really cool plants and one of my favorites. I also have the 'Orange' cultivar which is very pretty. It's still a baby so not quite as vigorous as the other one.

That's an impressive equestris! I need to show the photos to mine, so they know what to do. All of these are 2-3 year old keikis so I'm lucky if they have 2 spikes a year with 8-10 blooms on each.

Cute!! I used to have one that was a gift from an OB friend, but it died. I want to get another one, but they're not exactly the cheapest equestris. Cost 30-40€.
