I haven't lost one yet by doing it that way ! I wait until the spike dries up and turns brown before I cut the keiki off from it. Only problem is now she's putting out keikis in the middle of the spike as well !! Can't do the 2" pot trick there ! I'm just making sure I water and fert the keikis as well as momma.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! That is one drool worthy equestris!!!!!!!! I need to show that picture to mine so it gets the hint!! I almost lost mine to leaf spot fungus, and it is hanging on by a thread!!

Well, thanks to you all I decided to take stock of what I actually have on my shelves. I now have 175 plants (not counting the ones that are outside that are supposed to be a friends but I think she has given them to me). Of these 47 are phals, of those, 8 are species. Shilleriana, hieroglyphica, equestris, equestris v. alba, pallens, stuartiana, luedemaniana, marae.

little late here, and im not going to read all the old posts... sorry

GREAT plant!!! its huge! looks like a weeping will with the spikes. its great! how big is the pot??? i love your plant! what did it score? when did you get it judged? best thing about this species is the keikis! i lov ebeing able to share. i have keikis of 'three times a lady' x 'too blue' and 'rookie' cant wait to see 'rookie' bloom. the other already has

Bob, it's in a 6.5" pot. I didn't get it judged, it came with the AM when I bought it.

Best thing is it being in continual bloom for more than 6 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats crazy! continuously blooming for so long. i thought you had gotten the Am yourself, and i was impressed. lol. great plant either way. whats it potted in?
