I DON'T know how I could misplace the one that was a quest of mine for a few years ! P. stobartiana, a BABY seedling I've wanted since falling for an Allen Black pix on the net ! TOO many logs to keep updating !

I've got a couple primaries and a few hybrids I didn't mention. I've grown away from the standard grocery store Phals. I DO miss my Ever Spring 'Light' and, thanks to being re-exposed in the 'Never seen one like it. Have you?' thread, I might try to relocate one !

I think my next purchase will be an amboinensis, and an equestris var coerulea or an aurea.
Hope the speciosa will make a full come back.
As for the next purchase, I found out after getting my amboinensis that it's a notoriously slow bloomer. It can take ages to get a spike, ages for it to grow, and ages for the blooms to open. Got mine as a mature plant a year ago, and I'm still waiting.....

Camille, not only the slow part but amboinensis has a fragrance similsr to Pine-Sol which I couldn't tolerate so I sold it ASAP ! Beautiful bloom, lousy fragrance !!

My cornu-cervi v. alba was also yellow.

Those are great things to know Camille and Merlyn. I may have to reconsider ambo. Hmmm.... I've been very tempted to try venosa but from what I've read it's very fussy.

IOSPE says that venosa smells like crushed centipede, ewwww!

@Merlyn: I hope you don't mind that we have completely and thoroughly hijacked your thread....

Although Phal mannii alba is a misnomer, it is different from the flava var in that it doesn't have bars or stripes. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of mine but here is a link to a photo that looks exactly like mine.

Thanks for the link. Looks quite different from a normal manni without the markings!

Camille, not at all, I think it's a good conversation ! Besides, I'm guilty of nudging it off track also ! i.e.;

This is my mannii but hasn't bloomed since. We're going through environmental issues but I think it's now turning around.

Very very nice mannii. Hope you'll get it blooming again soon. Mine(the dark version) has nice color, but I don't like the shape of the lower petals. The sides of them curl backwards to form what almost looks like tubes. I should get a standard mannii too.

I like yours too Camille ! Something about that shape !!

BTW, psyc1210 is a good friend of mine, the same age as you, and her goal is to have ALL the Phal species !!! She's not too far away from that goal right now ! You 2 have a lot in common !
