Is this e-Bay Phal. worth it?
I've been watching this e-bay listing with wavering intentions of bidding.
Have any of you purchased from this vendor before?
His feedback is excellent.
Do you think this plant is worth the bucks it is bringing/going to bring. That's a lot of money to shell out for one plant but I've been saving for something like this to come along.
Check it out here:

It is a beautifully orchid and anything is worth the price if you want it bad enough. However, this is Ebay. Do find out about the vendor and check out the return policy. Definitely get feedback before you buy it. I was just curious: Are the leaves supposed to be curled?

Well reading into the auction, you'll see something I view as key, "from the H.P. Norton Breeding." So if the plant is legit, it might be, but then again, a plant is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Also, if you're thinking about this, maybe you would rather just go to the source... Orchidview, and pick up one of their var coerulea hybrids.

Thanks for the advice. A number of the species phals. have a wave to the leaf. I don't consider it a fault, but I'm no expert. Just love phals. and would like to have one "good" plant.
{EDIT} I find three of these phals on e-bay right now, all seem to go back to the Norton's breeding. I wonder if H.P. has released some of his plants 'cause on his site he says none of his plants are ready but one can put one on "hold" until they can be shipped.

FWIW, the seller rdlsreno (Ramon) is a regular poster over on Peter Lin's Big Leaf phalaenopsis forums and he comes across as a very competent, passionate and knowledgeable grower.

I would buy a plant from Ramon without hesitation, given that it is within my price range. I wonder if this is a Blue 4th of July X Gaston Blue.

Ramon has also won many awards from the AOS for his plants and if I remember correctly also does photography for the AOS as well.

This cross is 4th of July x Gaston Blue( older cross) which was offered a couple of years ago by the Nortons. They were offered at the time as unbloomed seedlings.Their site hasn't been updated for awhile. You can email Katherine for a current list of whats available. Some of the newer crosses may be available but they more than likely will be unbloomed seedlings which may or may not be blue.
With the auction mentioned you already know what the blooms will look like, and because this is a first bloom seedling now matured, they will only get better as the plant get older and bigger.
Bet this goes for some $$$$, would be valuable if you plan on breeding with it.
Judi
PS. If you go to this link on their site it shows which indigo violaceas are available now.

Thanks Judi, do you suppose letting it out to stud would work so it would eventually pay for "him"?
Are you following the auction? Getting scary!
