Blooming Phal Violacea
I bought this back in early March. It grew a new leaf and then about a month ago started growing two flower spikes. It opened it's first flower this week. Its nice to have a plant flowering as otherwise not much happening right now.
After being open a couple of days the fragrance is now kicking in.

Hi Mervin,
The tag says it is a Violacea (Malaysia x var. Borneo),
so I guess I am not sure if it a true species.
I am really excited with it as it is the first plant that I have blooming that I didn't buy in spike or bud. Seems like the daylight hours and temps up and it spiked..
Regards

Okay, so now, with violacea var. Borneo being reclassified as bellina, you now have a var. Malaysia, which is still a violacea crossed with a bellina, this is Phal. Samera ( violacea x bellina)

Thank you all for the kind words, its nice that this plant likes the conditions. It looks better than my picture. And the fragrance is a neat bonus.

Bob

Cody is correct. Phal. violacea var borneo was reclassified several years ago to Phal. bellina. It is now considered a distinct species from violacea. So yours is a hybrid called Phal. Samera. It's nice, I use to have one just like it.
