This is the same flower that first open in April - than in couple week the color has transformed to green. I finally get around to take a picture and pollinate this flower - selfing.
This explains why I had one inflorecence of brown flower and one inflorecence of green flower. At first (in 2007) I thought there are 2 different species/plants growing together.
I am using this flower to breed with Phal Tsay's Evergreen - a mannii hybrid. My goal is to breed for green flowers, but I am not sure how the flower will look like initially. Also it will be interesting to see which species is more dominate. Both Phal mannii and Phal braceana have shown to dominate in flower form in their progeny. I hope this cross will work. It will be fun to see the result. Besides, the fragrance from this pair should be very nice.
