J, I noticed the same thing when I first got the plant. The first blooms were lighter and as it's gotten older, the color has become a bit deeper...and they're definitely "pendulous"
Those are stunning. Great job growing this one- it's so beautiful. Does the phal "live" upside-down like that? Do you grow it hanging like one of those upside-down tomato plants? Or is this just for the photo? It would make perfect sense as they hang on the side of trees in nature. It would also protect the crown from lingering moisture. Cool idea.
