Rangiku,

my funds are low right now. slow payments so I need to pick one.

what are the practical differences between the two? and which would do better in an apt/ windowsill?

Stefano, I have both. I think long term the mannii will remain more compact. It's an easy bloomer. I can't say that about bastainii. Cultural requirements are the same.

thanks - do you mean the P bastianii is not as an easy bloomer as the mannii? saw photos of P mannii with a huge quantity of blooms. Also I was considering which one is more likely to produce keikis and turn into a large specimen.
thank you!
hard to choose between these 2 great looking phals.

stefpix, totally hear you about funds. I hope the payments speed up for you.

If I had to choose one simply based on immediate visceral response, it would be the mannii. However, I've seen bastiannii for 1/2 to 1/3 the price of mannii. Perhaps you should try one of those.

And don't forget, they will always be out there for you to buy later. Please post pics when it blooms.
