Phal. bastianii x mannii
Hi, I'd like to ask your opinion on my phal if it's a bastianii. It had no name tag but i think that's the closest it looks alike. Except for the hairy lip but i guess it's still a bastianii. I enjoy it either way :P

IMO, no it's not bastianii. The lip is not hairy and it's too purple. The petals and sepals are also too rounded. Bastianii is more star shaped with pointed petals and sepals. There are other differences as well.
I think it's a hybrid of some sort.

Thx for the reply and sorry about the colours. Lol I didn't know my dad's new camera could do such strange art pics and that it can be misleading but purple's kinda cool on the flower, i think it's a great pic Anyway, here's one with flash and my old cam, these are the actual colours but you're right about the shapes not matching. Could anybody please guess what species it can be related to, amboinensis, sumatrana, or anything else?

I would suggest its a Phal amboinense hybrid but they vary greatly. It possibly a primary hybrid, 2 different species crossed.

I agree, I'm guessing that it's some sort of primary hybrid. Do you remember where you got it?

Judging by the shape of the lip, I'd suspect some lueddemanniana in there, somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions! It's a lot more stretched now and not so round but surely not a bastianni I agree, there's definatelly a little lueddemanniana in it. But just for fun i think i'll ask the greenhouse i bought it from in Germany. I'll let you know if i find out.

I guess i was too hasty with the photos, the first is too purple the other's too red and the shape's not corret either. It's still not a bastianii i see but now it's fully streched and done some editing with the colours so this is how it looks like for real. I'm still determined to find out its origins but haven't got an answer from Germany yet.
