Default violacea var. coerulea

Got this one from Kawamoto back in March this year.

violacea var. coerulea - natural early morning sunlight - flower having opened less than one day:

I was amazed (maybe I shouldn't be) at the green on the edges of the petals and sepals. A little disappointed on the lack of blue on the right lateral sepal. Perhaps it will "color-up" as the flower matures.

Same flower - early evening sunlight:

Good job Pete, mine is in bud right now. This will be the second blooming for me and I, too, am hoping for a bit more blue this time around.

Wow gorgeous!!!! I too I would have expected more blue given the name, but its still very pretty. Good growing. I have aP. violacea 'Sumatra' x P Goldberry 'Clear Sun' that is in bud but is growing that bud/spike sooooo slowly. I feel like its been months and its no where near ready.

Temp and fertilizer can change the way the bloom develops and ultimately looks.

With that said-- I think it looks GREAT!
