Just recieved thsi as a gift a couple of weeks ago and the newest leaf was alreday half grown now it has popped out three new roots in the last few days ....Im excited to see this one bloom soon.It was in spagh when I got it but I grow in rice hulls and repotted just a couple of days after I got it, perhaps a week even ...I did give it a little time to recover from the shipping stress.

Love those roots! But what do you have it potted in? Is that is in a pot? Phal pulchra is a very beautiful phal but it's supposedly not the easiest of species to get to bloom. When it does spike, if the conditions are not just right then the spike will end up putting out keikis instead of blooms! I have one, and still have seen no blooms on it. Guess I need more patience, and need to adjust the culture a bit.

Congratulations John, I know you will have good luck with pulcha.
Camille, thanks for the tip. I have been wondering why my pulcha only throws spikes with keikis (3). Guess I have to find a different spot for mine.

I wish you well with this one. I was never able to get mine to bloom either while I had it.

P. pulchra, a love/hate story
I bought one few weeks ago.
Sincerely I don't like your potting media: it seems to be too fine-grained, not aired and too moist.
But it depends on growing conditions , Christenson in his book (Phalaenopsis, a monograph) wrote that he saw Phalaenopsis happily growing in a wine bottle or in a pot filled with wool socks
hahahahahaha!!
