Default Phal. parishii

While I was away over the weekend my Phal. parishii bloomed! It's so sweet, incredibly tiny, and sadly singular, but it's the first time I've got it to bloom so I'm still pleased. It's probably no more than a centimetre from top to bottom!!

Still, a real nice form on the flower and good colour. I'de say a good omen for the future. CONGRATS!

I have it mounted on mopani root with sphagnum moss. I water it every day with a spray bottle, and give it a proper soak every 3-4 days. It gets late afternoon sun although it's not close to the window. It lost a couple of leaves when I first mounted it last year, but it seems to like it although I chose to mount it because it's small and manageable.
How are you growing yours Howard?

I grow in bark/CHC. I got mine from The Dowery last August. Dwayne sent it to me when I ordered last year as a "gift" because he said it wasn't up to his "standard" for a sale plant. It came in 3 pieces, one of which has since departed. I still have 2 pieces. The larger piece seems to be growing some new leaves but the smaller hasn't done anything. I read where they like a drier "rest" in the late fall/winter?????

I didn't know about a preference for a dry rest period, but to be honest mine probably got it by accident while I was still sussing out the mount. I only really started watering it daily after it spiked, but it used to stay dry for several days at a time before it was growing. It also got quite cold here over winter, and I keep it in one of the colder, brighter rooms in the house (brighter for England, which is pretty dull in the winter!). Hope yours picks up!

Thanks Ted. I agree - it is cute. I love the colour. So different to any of the other Phals I have.
