Sorry to hear that. I'd really love some seed from the 'Joy' selfing. Is that cultivar from Joseph Wu?

Yes it is...I picked up the plant from Big Leaf Orchids not long ago. I also selfed the 'Joy' clone of Phal. javanica and the protocorms are just starting to show their first leaves now....

Very nice, I like javanica. I'd love to talk about a trade when the time comes. I have some gems in compots, flask, and capsules. Send me a pm if your interested.

It could be crossed with P. micholitzii. See the clue to its lip.
Anyway, it is still very beatiful.

Edward, what clues are you referring to? It looks more like a strait violacea to me. If it where a Penang Violacea I would expect rounder petal tips and hairs on the lip.

The lip of pure P. violacea’s shape should not appear like that.
It could be crossed in the early generation, after that, back to mate with other P. violacea many times and pick up what they want. Some said this is a process called “purification”. But it’s gene had been mixed with other species, the different appearance will reveal or not only from the Probability. But if we identify it as species, it is very controversial, and also confuse the breeding.
