I would recommend you getting cool growing Phal maybe it will suit your growing area better than hot growing one. Maybe Phal venosa or Phal celebensis. Celebensis can gives a wonderful spray of flowers while venosa especially gives off a very nice scent.
Btw, which part of Australia did you come from?

Wow... all those are really nice. The cornu-cervis and blue violaceas are new for Wu. I have not seen him have those in the past, but I know he traded a plant that he had a price of several thousand on for Frank Smith's best blue violacea at WOC. I was there when they were talking about it. If your seedlings are a cross or selfing of that, they will definitely be nice.
Wu's luedde's are always amazing.
Undergrounder, did you get the amboinensis flava? Wu has some amazing ones of that and they are usually $$$$.
OzPhal for AUS $110, you didn't do bad. Wu plants can be crazy expensive, but they are top notch stuff.
I really didn't need to see this. They will be back here this year and I don't need to spend the money.
Nice stuff!

No i didn't get the flava because it was a seedling cross and was really expensive.. if they'd been clones i might have.
And yeah the violacea seedlings are selflings of the one he got from Krull-Smith. That photo has been shopped a little i think to make it look like those green tips are round petals. But apparently it's quite a big flower.
Nancy was telling me the story (that i couldn't really understand) but apparently Frank Smith wanted like tens of thousands of dollars for it but they ended up swapping it for three of Wu's blue ribbon plants? or something... maybe you know the story i was doing my best to follow it but i got lost..
Unfortunately though, the flask I pre-ordered from them was full of very small plants and i had to deflask them early because of contamination in the bottle. So they're small and doing OK but not nearly as big as i would have hoped to deflask them at for the price...

I knew more of the story 2 years ago at WOC, but its getting fuzzy now. Actually I have a picture of one of the plants they swapped for that one, but its at home and I'm out of town.
Funny thing is that Krull-Smith probably has several flowers as good as that one, but its a nice one. The value is relative. What Joseph Wu and Frank smith paid for the plants they traded is probably negligible. They both grew them from seed. As long as they got something they want, its all good.
Sorry you had to flask early. I had to do that recently myself with a flask. It was all jumbled up, so I was afraid everything would die. Luckily I do a little orchid lab work and was able to replate the small ones into more flasks, but sometimes they are contaminted and it doesn't show up until you spread them out.
Good luck. I think you got some excellent plants.

As a Phal species grower, I have read your thread with interest. Which part of Aus do you live? I am in Sydney.

Hey Everybod, I was hoping you might be able to give me some advice....I'm having some struggles at the moment getting the water balance right for my seedlings. I've got all of my seedlings in comm pots in 100% Spaghnum Moss. They're in a small aquarium with a fan and a container full of water with an aqaurium heater in it. Temperature is pretty steady between 20oC - 25oC. Humidity is between 80%-90%. I've been adding additional water to the base of the tank and allowing it to wick up through the spaghnum moss to keep it moist - that is my problem. What would be the best way to water them under those conditions? I don't want to keep the roots permanently wet as i've noticed a couple starting to show signs of overwatering. Is that humidity/temperature sufficient to eliminate watering even though the spaghnum moss dries out? should i move to another medium for potting? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
