Underground, when i first replied the pics didnt come up! that Indigo violacea looks really nice! it's amazing the variations in the violacea! I wish i'd gotten a single of the indigo violacea, teraspis and the lobii X amabilis. I'm trying to not go nuts with the hybrids at the moment and focus on my goal of getting the species (ironic my saying that given i have four flasks coming in november - albeit one is an amabilis).

If there was a bellina there then there was no doubt i would have had one! they are simply stunning! Did you notice those Little Lady's that Easy Orchids had?

Also, not sure if Graham was there on Sunday - i went on Saturday. Does Graham have a website? What nursery does he run?

Cool, I sent you a pm.

None of the pics i posted are indigo violaceas, those are just like the violacea 'Blue' one you got, which is a selfing originally from Krull-Smith. All of those blue/indigo violaceas are from crosses originally by Krull-Smith and the Nortons: Birth of the Blues. The one you posted i think is really nice! big flower, great shape... the selflings should be nice,

The ones i posted (in order) are the tetraspis, Joy Nancy Lady, the red/yellow harlequin hybrid, then the amboinensis flava and the lobbii x amabilis

Yeah i did notice the Little Ladies, but they're pretty common nowadays, a lot of florists are selling them. They're all little miniature Phal hybrids with a lot of Phal. equestris in them, a company in Sydney imports them and sends them on to florists around Australia.. i already have one, it's about to flower now, i wouldn't get any more.
As for Graham, he doesn't have a nursery per se, but he has greenhouses in QLD and does sell to the public. I think he's working on a website now.

He was at the stall right next to the Wus, all he had were Phals... he had an exhibit as well, it was this one:

His amabilis won grand champion of the show:

By the way are you limiting yourself just to one of each of the species? Or are you open to primary hybrids? LOL. Because then of course you're going to need to get into diploid novelties and before you know it you'll be swimming in Phals!

Those tetraspsis are stunning! as is the amboinensis flava and the lobbii X amabilis.

Yeah, i figured the Little Ladys were made for the commercial market - they're noid for starters... i'd love to breed to something that size one day but with some fragrance. I'm not overly interested in owning one though persee - i'd sooner make my own and know its parentage

Yeah, i did notice his stand - by the time i saw it though i was wiped out on the $$ front so i, sadly, didnt want to tempt myself... did he have any species? I'm really keen to get a bellina and a speciosa.

NNnooooo - not limiting myself to one of each at all - i just have to have a plan to work to otherwise i'll end up running out of room first cab off the rank - species hopefully every singe one of them... I fear by the end of this i'm going to need an olympic size swimming pool or two for the amount of Phals i'm going to be swimming in...the one thing holding me back at the moment is the fact that i rent and don't have a glasshouse - that's probably a good thing given i am getting married in November

Those are some very nice choices. The colors of the cornu cervi and the violacea are gorgeous. I guess it's Phal species craziness season...LOL !!! I've got some spieces and I'm definetely looking forward to adding more before the end of the year. Mines are:

- Phal equestris
- Phal bellina
- Phal violacea v. coerulea
- Phal braceana
- Phal lobbi
- Phal gigantea
- Phal ambroniensis
- Phal mariae
- Phal schilleriana
- Phal stuartiana
- Phal tetrapsis
- Phal zebrina

I have more species Phals than I tought. I've got like 8 more that will be getting before the end of the month.

hmm ill have a look at that pm when i get home.

He did have a few species, and a few close-to-species hybrids, i mentioned the amabilis, he had a violacea (that i grabbed... mwahaha), Dtps. Kenneth Schubert, Joy Green Bee, etc. etc.

If you do want to use the LLs in breeding, then you can probably find out the names. The small pink one with stripes is Sogo Vivien. All of them are Sogos actually i think.

The only problem is most of them are likely triploid or aneuploid and likely to be sterile or have breeding problems... it's a problem with most of the miniature and multifloral lines of breeding.

Great collection Roly, we have many of the same ones. I think species phals are becoming more popular. Would the OB have anything to do with it? Probably!!

This is a very particular species!
I bought it about 5 months ago but it is not going well at all...
How will you take care of it?
Now Australia winter is ending, right?
Have you a photos of this Phal? it's one of the most beautiful Phal species, IMHO... This is my little plant.
Now it has one more dwarf leaf but roots don't want to grow! I provide it with a very high umidity, light and... temperature may be the problem...
This is the reason I'm asking you a tip
