Default Phalaenopsis wiganiae blooming

Primary hybrid of Phal. schilleriana x stuartiana with marbled leaves and two flowerings per year. Unscented, but beautiful quite large flowers that appear in an upright stem in the first days of spring and winter.

This is still a young plant that was separated from the mother plant three years ago. It produced a spike with four flowers last year and now it's holding five flowers.

Easy to care for. Maximum temp around 30-32ºC minimum around 13ºC in winter. Seems to like the temperature drop to initiate the spikes.

Beautiful! I didn't know that this cross produced keikis. I have one too but in the 14 years that I've had the plant it has never made a single keiki. It's also in bloom now, with a large branching spike (I've never had it bloom twice per year though). I agree that it is a very easy and rewarding Phal to grow!

This one has always made a keiki every third year. Instead of flowering, it sends out a spike crowned with a keiki.

I think that my mother plant blooms twice because it spends April-October in a veranda where it experiences a considerable fall in night temperatures both at the beginning of spring and autumn.
