That long you think? I know most Phals take about 3 months from spike nubbin to open bloom, but seeing as this spike grew about 8in in 4 weeks, I was guessing shorter. Though it probably depends on the final length of the spike.

I try not to expect anything soon... I get teased by so many plants, including my Phals. Of course, when you want it to take longer, it may perversely decide to be fast...
if your plants are like ours, it will tease for at least a couple weeks after it should have opened

The plant is growing in a three inch pot in sphagnum and the largest leaf is eight inches in length. I have all my plants in my apartment so normal growing conditions. I have been led to believe that it's rather small for a blooming gigantea.
The color is not quite right. The background color should be a greenish white. So the last photo is closer in color.

Very nice blooms, congrats!! I've seen photos of plants blooming at that size so it certainly is possible.
