smwaever – I've been tempted a few times to shell out the 200 dollars for one of Krull Smith's bellinas but always chicken out mostly because I won't know exactly what the plant looks like until it gets here.. Is it appropriate practice to ask a seller for a pic of the actual plant or similar plants when buying something that expensive? I've gotten Peter Lin of BLO to send me pics a few times but he is a friendly guy. Not sure if this is an annoying ask for most growers though.

No, I don't think it's inappropriate to ask for a photo of any plant, regardless of the price. If a vendor has a problem with you asking, then that gives you a good idea about their level of customer service. And the worst they can say is "no" to your request--which is more of a reply than what I received from good old Norman's Orchids when I asked to see photos of the Phal giganteas that they have listed for fairly hefty prices. Again, Norman's lack of a reply tells me that I would rather shop around and find someone who might be a little more responsive. You can also give Krull Smith a call. I'm sure they would be fine with describing any of the plants you're interested in.

I have Summer Rose, it has no stripes, the color is a clearer blue also.

The colour/pattern might be closer to the flowers with the red circle ..... maybe! The camera didn't seem to auto-focus properly, but nice pic there Dolly!

Burn the bridge and never order from Norman. He is a rip off artist. Worst re-seller out there.

[QUOTE=vegetalmatter;939282 Is it appropriate practice to ask a seller for a pic of the actual ...... if it's relatively expensive? [/QUOTE]

It's customary for the seller to show pics of the actual flowers from that orchid for relatively expensive purchases.

It is typical. Usually it is automatic ....without needing to ask them.
