They come from lowland Kalimantan (Borneo), so they like it bright, hot and steamy; they should handle your summers just fine!

I just realized I didn't respond to this! I haven't found this one available here, but I do grow a lot of lowland orchids! So many of them grow slowly until the hottest part of summer and then they really grow quickly. I wonder if this is one of those species?

If that's the case I'm going to have to rehome mine, there is no way I can keep it happy. It has not grown at all since getting it. It sits there and does nothing, to the point that I wonder if I didn't buy a plastic plant! 'Hottest' part of the summer here (excluding heat waves) would probably be what Texans consider 'a nice spring day'.

Or maybe you could "cook" it under a heat lamp?

just a short update on the kapuasenis....

all three have now lost at least one leaf, and havent started any new ones yet this spring. meanwhile, pretty much every other seedling and mature plant has started putting on their first new leaf of the season. so, we shall see what the summer holds but so far im not a huuuge fan.....too slow!

Sounds like mine is doing only slightly better than yours! By slightly I mean that it hasn't lost any leaves.

Like you I see tons of growth on most of my other Phals. The kapuasenis on the other hand has growth about 0,2cm of new roots (tops) and the partially grown new leaf it arrived it has not grown any further.
