Orchid House update pics
My terminology 'house' caused confusion so I'll have to remember to type "Orchid House"
As I posted, I'm adding some updated pics of it.

Nice one Roy! Can you tell us about the temperatures in your house, the highs and lows - winter and summer.

Summer temps, O/nite .. Min 15c+ mostly.
Day ......Min 15c - 35c, this is when the Evaporative A/con is switched on. No A/C, it has gone to 45c+.
Winter Temps, O/nite .. 12c >
Day .. 12c - 25c approx.
Both of these temp' quotes vary slightly on outside conditions ie Frosts, rain, Wind etc.

Roy, nice "house"! I don't mean to pry, but can you tell me what medium you are using on a lot of your orchids? It looks like sphag and charcoal?

Sorry Gage, meant to answer your question earlier. The bulk of my pot media is Coarse Perlite & fine bark, 3/1 ratio. The Vandaceous have large chunks of Cocoanut in the baskets.

Steve, the collection has been altered a lot since I first posted pics of the house. The collection is made up now of 3 main genera. Paphs, about 800, Vandaceous, about 300, Catts, about 200. There would be 50 plants of other genera.

Thanks Bud, backyards are hard to comeby these days, even here. House blocks are so small you can't swing a cat. I've been lucky in that the home I left in the big smoke had a large B/Y & I now live on 20 acres so space is no problem, just money to extend.
