Milk will take care of those water spots. Dip a paper towel or other soft cloth in milk...rub the leaves...spots gone. If the spots are extra stubborn it might take a couple of tries but it typically works very well.

A group of common soil born fungi known as Trichoderma could be the green culprit. I use Neem Oil to combat various fungi problems on my plants. I have only recently begun using it on my orchids to no ill effect.

Hey guys i took it completely out of its medium and left it like that for a week, not watering it often, having the fan blowing gently and no fuzzy stuff growing on it at all. It only grows when it was in medium. only 3 roots left.
I've been doing research and heard of using a little bit of rooting hormone on orchids, people had success with it.
So what i did i sprinkled the base with the hormone and wrapped the roots with a just slightly damp paper towel and i covered with a plastic bag (i know you're only supposed to do that with no root orchids) but giving it a try anyway. I did this last week so i want to wait about a week or so and see what happened.

Wipe with bottled water. No deposits. Leaf Shine from any HD, Lowes, horticultural shop will have it. I use it when I put an orchid in the house. Makes the leaves all shiny.

For what it's worth...I can't tell you how many phals in moss I've killed in the last several years. Tried everything, you name it, I tried it. Repotted loosely in new moss, watered less frequently, etc, etc, etc. Nothing worked. I was plaqued with bacteria, fungi, root rot, crown rot you name it! we had it.
I finally (duhh) switched to bark, soaked the roots in Physan prior to repotting, as James mentioned. It's been 2 yrs. and haven't had any problems since. One phal had spider mites a few months back but responded well to Bayer 3in1.
Phal roots like a lot of air circulation. Some people mount theirs on cork alone. I also introduced a Oscillating fan which helps.
I feel your frustration.

Leaf Shine is not a good recommendation for anyone planning to show their orchids. It will get the plant immediately disqualified.

A side note...I don't know if it's true or not but I heard years ago that those leaf shine products can clog the pores of the leaf. ???

I have had that happen to me after using an organic micro nutrient that i will never use again. It's a fungus.

If it keeps coming back after repotting (like it did for me) you might need to go chemical. Physan 20 should do the trick. You might need to use it a few times but it should work.

Well from the looks of it it isn't hurting your plant so i would be overly concerned about it from that perspective. Also it looks as though it is some type of mold or fungi. This means it makes spores and hyphae which are very difficult to get rid of. The can live for months dormant until they get the right conditions. You could try using fungicides etc but you may find that the cure is worse than the disease...and costly...

Update: after re potting in bark that fuzzy stuff is still there, i slightly lifted it to check on the roots and even more roots became rotted and the bark was attached to the roots by these little spider looking "hairs" this orchid keeps loosing roots and i have no idea what to do! please help =[
p.s. been using physan 20 but how often do i use it? i use it every couple of days so the orchid won't stay wet too long.
My orchid is down to 3 roots

1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
1 1/2 teaspoons Dr Bronner's peppermint soap
1 tsp cinnamon powder.
Warm water to make up balance in spray bottle.
Spray entire plant, including bark and roots.

Repeat at 2 weekly intervals.
I guarantee the above will work !
Note that switching from moss to bark naturally sets the plant back.

You appear to have a problem either in your environment or in the area you have this plant ?
