My Laelia rubescens is spiking...
Two and half years ago I bought this cheaply as a shrivelling three back bulb division from a mature plant. It sat literally motionless on a sphagnum moss, but last year it finally begin to move and produced a tiny little growth. (I immediately mounted it on a DIY mount made of gutter guard filled with lava rocks and fiber clothes.)
But this year...it put out a fat full bulb and now is growing a long inflorescence...this is exciting for sure. Now I am looking at my L. anceps, which is sitting right next to it, which is refusing to bloom for almost four years. |

That long flower spike would drive me nuts. Just looking at yours I picture a giraffe with an extra long neck  |

Individual buds begin to orient themselves toward the general direction of the sunlight, and color began to develop. Just few more days! |
