I have owned myself or worked with just about every animal commonly, and even uncommonly kept as a pet, and other than primates no animal is as capable of forming a deep, complex emotional bond with humans as parrots do. I've lost a couple birds over the years, and I miss every one of them dearly.

Good luck with your hazel mount. The great thing about using Hazel is it is a renewable resource (if you have ever seen the way Hazel grows....).

Thanks Oh I know, it's a wonderfully useful plant also. Where I grew up it was extremely common.
Currently checking the UK Laws for gathering, as laws regarding conservation and nature are becoming, necessarily so, more strict. Currently can't find any indication that gathering Hazel is illegal, unless it's on private property and you don't have permission or it's on a nature reserve (as far as I can tell). Yet there may be conditions where the plant must remain untouched, such as if is harbouring Lichen or Moss which is under threat.

PaphMadMan,
Sorry to hear you had to let go of your feathered friend, but glad to know he's doing alright.
Subrosa & PaphMadMan,
Must say thank you for sharing regarding these remarkable birds.

That's good to hear about your 'too! He should have a long life ahead of him!
