My Paph. Sukhakulii is bud blasting!!
The spike is starting to shrivel, and parts of the bud are turning brown. The bud is also a bit warped looking.
I thought it was about to open, but now I'm almost positive that it's blasting. Do I need to check to see if it's dry or wet/rotting?

I hope it doesn't, because mine do that occasionally (only the oldest leaves though) and so far so good.
It was to be expected I think, considering the temperatures when it was shipped. Cut the spike off and then wait for it to develop a new growth, and hopefully you'll have another flower within a year.
I don't think you have to worry about rot, unless you've gotten water into the crown and it hasn't dried out properly. My wardii blasted its first bud, but no problems with rot. Maybe wait for a second opinion, just to be on the safe side.
Happy New Year to you and you Paphs.
