My first thought was underwatering, but since you mentioned that you mist it every day, I don't think that's it.

Check the very tip of the spike and see what it looks like. As long as it is not dry, it is still growing.
To me, 8 inch is still immature length although the length of spike can vary depending on the plant.
Mine are all at least 14 in and longer when in bloom.
The only time I had tolumnia spik blast was when I forgot to water them.

Make sure it isn't being hit by cold draft (or warm draft).

It should continue to grow or make branching spike off the main one if the main spike is damaged in any way.
