Yeah, I would use a smaller pot if there are not many roots inside it. The medium dries quicker if the roots are more tightly packed in the pot and that allows air to get in the gaps (rather than water in the gaps) and that helps the plant as Phalaenopsis like air around their roots (they grow clinging to trees with plenty of air flow).
