This is probably a bit late to join this conversation but I couldnt stop myself sharing some ideas with you.
1. Since in fish tank there is always enough oxygen (algae and air pump) floating some Phal.s over the water (wrapping some bubble wrap/.. around the neck of the plant) could have good results. on the other hand fish always produce good fertilizer which already is being used commercially in hydroponic culture.
2. putting some small fish to the vase for producing fertilizer and reducing extra algae.
3. adding some small amount of "Honey" to water. Honey has proven to have antimicrobial properties even in low concentration and on the other hand sugar has shown to increase the plant growth.
I have a question too.
Has anyone tried/heard water culture for Vandas?
I probably try some small deflasked seedlings on for this method.
