There is a big debate whether Cyps need frost or not. One thing is certain thats the like of C calceolus (meaning little slipper) and C. reginae and others are hardy perrennials. I think kept on the dry side, if grown in pots, and kept outside anything down to near freezing and thereunder should not be a problem. They are not acid lovers. they like an open free draining moisture holding compost.
Mine, C. reginae Has just has just experienced minus 14C.

Interesting. Well this is my first winter with them so fingers crossed they come back up They have been kept on the dry side in pots so hopefully will be fine.
