I am an irresponsible pet parent Yuuki dug into my purse while I was not looking and found the dark chocolate truffle I stuck in there last night. The waitress gave us a very bitter, but good, piece of truffle after the meal but I was too full to finish it. It is at least 60% cocoa. I wrapped it up, stuck it in my purse and forgot about it. I was always told chocolate is toxic for dogs so I called the ASPCA poison control line and paid $65 today for a consultation with a toxicology vet. They told me what signs and symptoms to look for and to give him a dose of hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. Well, he has not vomited and still seems fine almost 4 hours later. I'm suppose to just monitor him and take him in if he starts panting heavily and gets hyperactive. Tonight will be a long night of worry for me. I've only had him for a week. If anything happens to him, I'd never forgive myself.
