Sue, this is just FYI. I bought several plants from a German vendor that came to the Tamiami Show last January. His plants were very clean and nice and he had lots of species. I recommend them. It may be helpful when researching something that is available on both sides of the "pond". Roellke-Orchideen Unfortunantly the site is in German, but it is easy enough to figure it out. Also here is a pic of a plant I got from them last year that is blooming now. It is so beautiful in person and has a lemony scent. Hope this is helpful.
Oh, it is called Phal amboinensis ('Stripes' x var sinaensis 'Star')

Don't worry, I already had included Roellke-Orchideen into my orchid search engine. I have 28 EU vendors listed in it!

Camille, I will prepare a list of nurseries I know (and like) and send them to you to be added to your search machine
if that's ok for you

Actually, If you would like, I can add you as a contributor to the search engine. That way you can add stuff yourself. Have you changed your email address, or is it still the same one as in the spring?

Thanks for the info, Susie
I sent a PM to Camille asking her to add it to her European search engine.
For those of you who don't know about it, we've put together some custom search engines to use while we're researching for the projects:

Hi Sue x 2,
I can only confirm that Roelke Orchideen is an excellent nursery. Very high quality of plants! I do not have any plants from him, but have spoken a lot with him and his wife during different orchids shows, and the plants they always bring with them are top!
As for miniature plants, I can also recommend Orchideen Kopf Shop I do have plants from him, and they are also great plants. I have direct contact with the owner and could check if he has any plant proposed for the project, which is not in the catalogue...

I realized during the previous projects that the folks here inthe US might be better off searching for a plant in any of the Canadian or European vendor sites and THEN confirming that it's available here. So many times, we find plants in the US and they're not at the other locations. In this instance, it's best to work backwards

The only problem with is that some of the vendors don't work with the search engine, and a manual check has to for them. There are also vendors listed not particularily great (like Wubben and 2 others), but I chose to add them in case I was really desperate for an orchid...
Maybe we could do like last year, where the US-canada people check availability there, then I (and any other EU folks that want to help) can check for them here. I did that for project 6 and really did not mind the extra work! Actually it was fun to do.

Thanks Camille
My personal system is checking with the Canadian vendors sites first, then seeing if it's here and in Europe. During our discussions, you can let us know if the vendor carrying the plant has nice stuff or not
Everybody will do their searches in their own ways...I just want to make sure our newcomers (and even prior participants) realize that the plant MUST be available in all three locations or it's a waste of time...we won't dump a member just because they can't get the plant we love
Those are called TCs
