Default Is this a new pseudobulb?

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year from this side of the world!

I was checking my dendrobrium (which dropped 1 or 2 leaves after they turned yellow some days back) when I stumbled across something budding out of the base of the oldest cane (refer to pic).

Is it what I think it is?

On another note, one of leaves of the younger cane in the pot dried and dropped off. I know in a separate post it was mentioned that it's normal for dendro's to drop a few... but on the young pseudo?

I think maybe that super light dosage of fertilizer once a week is helping it grow...

The roots look okay to me - Greenish white (some are peaking out of the pot with a brownish core) and no pests whatsoever except for a mysterious snail which parachuted in 2 weeks ago. Plucked it right off and rinsed entire pot in soap water!

Hope I'm doing something right thus far. This is my second orchid (RIP first phalaenopsis) and I'm determined to flourish it.

Thanks ladies and gentlemen for all incoming advice!

It's the start of a new cane.

I agree with your assessment, and Subrosa's confirmation. It is a new cane (= pseudobulb). Congratulations!
