Default could you germinate orchid seeds on honey

dont orchid seeds just need sugar to germinate, you can leave honey out in the open inside and nothing grows on it does this mean that you can theoretically germinate orchid seed on honey whithout steralization

i know that honey does not colonize bacteria but it does attract bugs. i think you would need to still keep it in sterile environment but that is purely anecdotal

Default lets say you kept the honey inside like in a jar

do you think that honey would provide enough nutrition for germination

if not what is missing

Depending on how literal you're trying to be, I'm guessing the answer is probably not. Even if they did germinate the resulting germinated seed would not likely live for long.

Honey's anti-microbial properties are due in part to its low moisture content and high sugar content. Due to osmotic pressure, it basically sucks the moisture of of living cells.

So even if the low pH and other aspects of honey that make it inhospitable for pathogens weren't an issue for the orchid seeds, they likely still wouldn't develop.
