Hi nenella, Mine also has a new growth which is purplish in color. I'm thinking it's like my Tolumnias, which are happiest when turning purple. The laelia's seem to like it very bright and dry. I have mine hanging outside where it gets full morning sun until about 11AM and the some more full sun after 5PM.

Exactly. According to the culture that L. anceps gets in the wild- these conditions are perfect.
