Hard cane dendrobiums? Mine seem to be doing alright in S/H. But they are hybrids!

For me, vandas have been very difficult. Out of 3 small vandas in S/H, 1 died and 2 became very sick.

In S/H doing well, I have phals, oncs (brassia, intergeneric and pure oncidiums), cattleyas, dendrobium (nobile and phal type), paphs, miltoniopsis.

I concluded that vandas just don't really like media.

I found cymbidiums difficult to get going in S/H mostly due to their size. However, I am told once they are in it they really love it.

It really has nothing to do with the medium; I'd guess that temperature was the "deciding" factor.

That comment baffles me. Big plant? Big pot. Plop 'em in, fill 'er up, and walk away.

There's a garden center near my old house that has a Cymbidium you'd need a forklift to move. I can see a point here!
