I have had this plant for roughly 3 years and decided to repot this month (yes I know..... 3 years in the same media...oops!) I decided to replant in semi hydro. About a week into having it in this media I noticed these “soft” areas on the leaves and it turned brown. What is happening to my plant? The dark almost black areas have been there since last summer and were damage from being outside and falling off a ledge. Otherwise this plant has been healthy and continues to grow.

Are you keeping the reservoir full? What is ambient temperature? Is it getting lots of light?

I fill and let the plant absorb then fill roughly once per week to week and a few days (once water is gone). Temp is around 70-72. It is on a sun porch getting bright light but not direct sun. Unfortunately it is winter so I try to keep my plants as happy as I can until warmer weather. I did cut off the bottom 2 leaves and cap ends with cinnamon. I am afraid semi hydro Minger not work for this plant in my environment or has caused it to get a bacterial infection. I’m not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

With S/H the reservoir stays full all the time. This kind of plant grows in full sun in Florida. The people I bought mine from said it might bloom with 4 hours of full Arizona sun through a window. It needs a lot of water.
