Hi. I live in North Carolina and the orchids are outside right now. Daytime temperatures around 80 to 85 and nighttime temperatures around 60 to 65. We have pretty high humidity here and it's been raining For a few days. Our use plastic net pots that are open on the sides with expanded Clay media and then each net pot is sitting in a basin and the water level is probably about 3/4 of an inch deep and a basin is about an inch wider than the pot on all sides. So if the pot is a 5 inch pot the basin is about 6 inches in diameter. I will fill the basin and then whenever the dries out I've been letting it stay dry for 24 hours or so and then I really water through the media and for the basin again to about 3/4 of an inch. 24 hours or so and then I really water through the media and thought a basin again to about 3/4 of an inch. It's happened on a couple different orchids and unfortunately I'm not exactly sure what types each of them were. The one that just lost the new growth and had all it's puesdobulbs, I think was an oncidium or some type of orchid that looks similar.

Oh also the top of the Clay aggregate had a very thin layer of Spagnum Moss to retain some moisture on the top
