Gramms in Leca

Hello there...
Hope I posted on the right forum. We'll I'm planning to move my gramm scriptum in an ordinary pot with Leca. Its not s/h. But I plan to use an external reservoir once the roots are established on the medium.

Has anyone experienced trying this?

Also...A local nursery gave me some slow release fertilizer. It looks similar to osmocote...can I use it in my s/h orchids?

Once you put that tray of water under the pot, it IS semi-hydro! Just with an external reservoir.

Warmth is the key, but in the Philippines, I doubt that or humidity are a big issue.

I recommend against using slow-release fertilizers, as the pellets clog the air flow pathways between the particles, and you don't really know what the feeding rate is, as both temperature and moisture content of the medium controls the release rate.

I will just use my water soluble fertilizer instead.

You are right, its usually humid and warm here in the Philippines. Its just that recently we have some crazy weather here...
