Question Looking for s/h pots and LECA

Hi, all. I have a couple of phals that I'd like to switch to s/h but I'm having a hard time finding pots. I looked on Ray's store but he only has one small pot available in the clearance section that won't work for me so I'm wondering where else you guys get your pots from.

I'm also wondering where you order your LECA from?

Thanks!

I order deli containers on ebay or use clear, plastic drinking cups, then drill the holes myself with a hand drill. You can also heat up a phillips head screwdriver and punch the holds through it.

32oz deli containers work well for larger plants (but not huge). They are about 5'' in diameter. The 16oz and drinking cups work well for smaller plants and seedlings.

For my LECA, I order on Amazon. If you have a hydroponics store near you, you can get it there are well.

I buy 32 oz plastic deli containers at Smart & Final on the way home from work. You should be able to find them at any restaurant supply store. S&F sells lids separately, which is good, because I don't use them. I drill holes with a Dreml tool and a conical grinding bit.

I get LECA from a nearby hydroponics shop on the way home from work.

I, too, make my own S/H pots.

Test out the wicking height before drilling, the dimensions make a difference. Fill the container with LECA and add water little by little and observe how high it wicks.

Another option is to use a regular pot and place that in a bigger reservoir container. Test water levels for wicking.

For something a little more substantial than deli containers, I have found plastic vases at the Dollar Store that have nice shapes. They also are easy to punch holes in.

fishmom, I'm actually going to the Dollar Store to see what they have. I like the idea of something decorative.
