It was not likely the fertilizer that damaged the Vanda roots. More likely they didn't get enough water. Commercial growers in Florida have used 2-3 tablespoons / 30-45ml of 20-20-20 fertilizer powder per gallon / 3.78 liters water to fertilizer Vandas, including seedlings.
