Default Light placement??

Hey all!
So I tried Phalguy's agar recipe So quick and easy, and so far works...) and planted my seeds.. so far so good. Now I'm curious about lighting. In all the photos I've seen posted here, people are using lights from above and are growing orchids in containers like beakers that have clear tops. My question is this, I'm using canning jars with metal tops. I've hung my lights above them. Will my flasks get enough light or should the lights be behind the flasks so the metal tops aren't blocking all the light? Will it make much difference? How far away should my lights be from my flasks? I'm using 2 of those "light sticks" that are 54 watt and they are about 2.5 feet above the flasks. Advice anyone?

Ochid_nut, it should be posted in the growing under lights forum. You'll get lots more responses there. The mods haven't been around for a few days, but I'm sure they'll move this when they get back. You can always start a new thread in the light forum.

Actually I think I'd move it to propogation since the question seems to be about lighting flasks.
