Happy to say, with bench heaters running more consistently keeping media warm, they are all showing fresh root growth now. Ray may be correct with the evaporation issue with clay balls and clay pots, which dry up much faster than those in plastic pots. That may be an advantage for some species. I like to water so that is not a problem. I am using open mesh pots which dry out very fast for rupicolous species and they do seem happier.
I'll post again after we see how things go when it gets hot!

You're not attempting semi-hydroponics at all. Just using LECA in traditional culture.

They are in trays of standing water.
