Laelia Crispa in S/H

Hi all!

About 1 year ago I decided to make the transition of my dear L. Crispa to S/H. At the beginning no important changes... but this spring I see more vigorous psb and roots growing.

I feel there is long way to bloom, but I will succeed.

The pots are not very aesthetic for the moment.....

What do you think? What experience do you have with this gorgeos L. Crispa in S/H? Any comment is welcomed!!!

I love my crispa. In wintertime it needs a lot of light. It might start to rot when kept too dark. I grow mine in a bark mix.
But one year ago I potted a Cattleya/Laelia purpurata with bad roots and dehydrated in a plastic pot with nothing else but clay pellets (Seramis) and kept it humid. The result is astonishing good with strong roots and bulging bulbs.
However I don't treat mine as a hydroponic plant with such a high level of water.

How deep is that water? It looks like it might be too much water!

I think your orchid looks very healthy. Most of my orchids have been in LECA for a few yrs. Today, I re-potted a phaleanopsis into a glass vase with one hole drilled into the side. The hole is about an inch & a half from the bottom. The phal. is a rescue orchid, so I feel free to experiment with it. The rest of my clear plastic orchid pots have holes & slits all over the pots! I'll be interested to see "how" this phal. does. BettyE.
