I am new to S/H. Has anyone tried Dendrobium jenkinsii? I have been reading and it seems that many successful growers (large plants, lots of flowers) give D. jenkinsii a dry rest in the winter. Is a dry rest necessary and how do you do that with S/H? Thanks so much.

I would think that you would remove the water source from the plant if they require winter rest. Because otherwise I think you would not get buds the following year.

Dendrobium jenkinsii (roots grow tailored to the environment they are in) are not allowed a dry period, but fertilizer is totally withheld from November through February.

Thanks alot. The plant was labeled d. lendlyi but the leaves are small so I am tentatively naming it d. jenkinsii until it blooms.

I beg your pardon? What do you base that on?

Cheers.
