Oops...I didn't catch that. Repeat - bummer. Looks like ordering is the way to go then.

For the Leca try Sea-of-green in Phx, Happy Harvest in Chandler, or Home Grown Hydroponics in Tempe.

I used to always use glass, but am switching more and more to plastic. With bigger pots needed for some of the plants, the glass just added more weight and I have some hand "issues" with moving around big pots.
I've found a plentitude of both glass and plastic "stuff" at thrift stores... especially in the cooking section. Canisters, vases, bowls, etc. I try to steer clear of glass when the orchid reaches a certain size.
For glass, I use a DeWalt cordless drill, with rag or paper towel under it in the sink, just a bit of water, then let water very slowly trickle from faucet over place being drilled. If it's a really curved surface, I start with a tungsten bit (pointy like an arrow on the end) then switch over to a diamond bit after there's a place for the bit to get a "purchase" on the glass. The diamond bit looks like a round hollow circle, with little diamond dust chips on the head/cutting edge. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be...just a learning curve to get your technique down.
Good luck!

No problem.
Azredsand: thanks for the info. I'm looking at going down there Black Friday for some shopping I'll take a look. Thanks again.
WaterWitchin: I'm planning on going to Goodwill to see if there is anything. You can find some of the coolest looking pieces at thrift shops. I will have to get extra glassware to practice on.

I usually just go to my local .99 cents store (where nothing is actually .99 cents) and get some food containers. They come in all sizes and shapes. I go home and with a hot metal rod I burn out some holes at the level I desire. Then insert plant and pat yourself in the back (err, I mean cross your fingers and hope for the best).

Norma: are you talking about the entire forum? There is a menu selection in the main OrchidBoard menu and there is a button called browse. That will bring you to the main topic board.
I have no clue on how to get photos on the board using the tapatalk app.

I bought a circular diamond drill bit from Lowes yesterday on my Black Friday adventure. At Ross there was a basic drinking glass and a pilsner for the experiments. Today I worked on drilling on the glass containers. I broke the first of each type but managed to get the trick of drilling on the second one. There was some cool looking vases but they were too big, for now.
I visited Sea of Green in Phoenix where the Clay balls and some calcium & magnesium supplement were found. I also took a look at some extra lighting for summer time since I keep my blinds closed during the summer.
As a test I put in my Dtps Chain Xen Pearl 'Mars Purple' in one if the glasses. There are some more orchids that should be arriving soon. One of those might end up in the other glass.
Edit: The tapatalk messed up the photos so let's try it again.
