Default Ready or not (me), here I come...

Let me start by saying that, even though I've been a member of this board for a few months now (and a lurker prior to that), I've not done S/H until now. I'm so excited that I had the courage to try to convert some plants to S/H that I'm standing on top of the mountain, screaming the news . I am also a member of Ray's forum. So, if you are also a member of Ray's forum, you might have already seen the message that follows. I just can't help myself. Now, my nerves will be aggravated while I wait to see if I've done the conversion successfully.

It has taken a lot of reading (and rereading), hand-wringing, and teeth-nashing, but I finally have converted three pots to S/H. I don't consider myself the most successful indoor plant grower in the world, so the thought of changing ANYTHING that the original grower/store had in place was terrifying! I was actually shaking when I unpotted the first plant (a phal.). I had to remind myself that I was not holding an actual human baby. After reminding myself of how ridiculous my fear was, I got going. Along with Doritaenopsis Hsin Sesame (in growth, BTW), came the On. Sharry Baby 'Tri-color'. This is the "rescue" plant with one terrible looking bulb. I've had this plant for about a month and a half now. She deserves an S/H upgrade because she is putting forth new growth, too . The final selection of the day was my Den. Big. (of unknown variety). She had a keiki, but I broke it while repotting . I'll see about planting that, too.

I'm most grateful for being able to learn from the dialogue here. Thank you. Keep up the helpful work.

In the words of a great American, . . . I'll be back!

Uh, did I let the cat out of the bag?

Quiltergal, RPfeifer, Lagoon, cb977, thank you soooooo much! I have read so many of your posts and really respect your contributions. I just finished dismantling my old flourescent light fixtures and installing the T5s--4, to be exact . Ross is SO right when he says having them in the living room will require shades. If my neighbors were concerned about activities at my house before, they'll think aliens have landed now.

I stuck Mr. Keiki Withnoroots in a shot glass filled with LECA and a solution of water and rooting hormone . We'll see . . .
