Keeping primeagra intact while flushing
Anyone out there have trouble with keeping the prime agra in the pot when flushing? I have a vague idea of finding some sort of 'cover' to keep on the surface, so that when I have to tip the pot to empty the 'old' water, I don't lose any pellets. Seems I might have read somewhere here where someone came up with something that worked.

Burlap? Allows for ventilation, light, roots, and maybe even parts of the plant to pass/grow through. It's not toxic and extremely cheap also.
It's the first thing I came up with, so take the suggestion with a grain of salt.

what about wire like floral wire then tape it down around the edges of the pot. Would that work?

Meaning like making a net type of pattern over it. to hold everything in...

Tin foil with a hole for the water? Reuse/discard after use.

Wrap in mesh/netting (the kind used for Babybel cheese bags, Trader Joe's onion bags, tulle fabric, fishnet stockings, hair nets, etc), gather at top of pot-around the plant, close loosely with twist ties.

I usually top dress with sphag whenever I got pots that are prone to tipping and/or losing media. But I'm assuming you're growing s/h...not sure if sphag on top is a great idea for that.

Why are you tipping the plant over? The drainage holes should be emptying the water.

Yes, the drainage holes do drain the water, but I tip ALL of what ever remains of the 'old' water before I flush with RO water. Then I tip ALL that out, repeat, then fill up to the hole with the nutrient rich water (if it's feeding time).

This sounds like an idea I will try. Thanks all for your great ideas.

In response to Ray, I don't have enough pressure to even make my kitchen sink faucet sprayer work. It dribbles out. Thanks to you Ray, I can now make RO water (with a booster pump!) but even there, I keep it in gallon containers, and pour this water over the pots when flushing. I think even if I made a screen to fit over the containers mouth, there would not be the pressure your referring to. Pouring it onto the primagra is my only choice here.

Hold your fingers over the holes when filling and then let the water out. Gravity at work!
